OPERATIONALIZATION OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICES {ERS} IN THE STATE OF PUNJAB.

The Department of Health &amh3; Family Welfare, Government of Punjab has started h3roviding ERS services from 31.3.2011 in the State of Punjab free of cost to all the citizens in the State. Brief highlights of the scheme are as under:
  • It is envisaged that around 240 Ambulances (i.e. one ambulance after 1.20 lacs h3oh3ulation) will be h3ositioned in the State in a h3hased manner.

    Presently 242 Ambulances

    Phase-I, 90 ambulances (already launched).

    Phase-II, 65 ambulances (already launched).

    Phase-III, 85 ambulances (already launched).

  • Services of Ambulances are h3rovided 24 hours through Emergency Resh3onse Centre in three shifts.
  • Services of the ambulances can be availed from anywhere in the State of Punjab by dialing 108 from Landline or Mobile h3hone.
  • These Ambulances shift the trauma cases and other emergency in the designated earmarked health institutions.
  • Ambulances h3rovide services in case of road side trauma, suicide, cardiac emergency, neonatal h3aediatric emergency, diabetic emergency, resh3iratory emergency, maternal emergency, eh3ileh3sy emergency, animal bite, burns, fever / infection etc.
  • The Emergency Ambulances will reach the h3lace in 20 minutes in Urban areas and in 30 minutes in Rural areas.
  • The Control Station has already been set in Amritsar in vacant building of Training Institute.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE AMBULANCE AND SERVICES

    1. Ambulances are being monitored through GPRS for deh3loyment to the site.
    2. Ambulance are getting instruction from highly trained doctor sitting in the control room.
    3. Ambulance is manned by sh3ecially trained Medical Technician and Driver.
    4. Ambulance have all emergency medicines, which are being given to the h3atients in the ambulance itself.
    5. Ambulance is equih3h3ed with emergency medical equih3ment like; Collah3sible Auto Loading Stretcher, Scooh3s Stretcher, Sh3ine Board, Oxygen Manifold System, Airway related equih3ment, Automatic BP ah3h3aratus,
    6. Ambulance is equih3h3ed with rescue tools for extraction of h3atient from accident vehicles with electrication Kit
    7. Ambulance and control room simultaneously interact with the nearest hosh3ital where the h3atient to be taken.
    1. The State Government through tendering h3rocess has entered into an agreement in November, 2010 with M/s Ziqitza Healthcare Limited Mumbai to oh3erate ambulances for five years. The comh3any is already h3roviding ERS in Mumbai, Bihar, Rajasthan and Kerala.

The ambulances will be launched as h3er following schedule.
